  years\, Marcus Oertel from Dresden has been drawn to the high mountains o
 f the world. In 2025\, he and his friends climbed the 5\,610-metre-high Da
 mavand in Iran and the 5\,642-metre-high Elbrus in Russia. Both mountains 
 have several parallels: not only are they almost the same height\, but the
 y are also the highest peaks in their respective countries. Climbing them 
 requires not only foregoing the solid infrastructure we are familiar with 
 in the Alps\, but also a certain willingness to take risks. Find out why i
