Effi Mora was born in Russia in 1983 and has lived in Germany since 1997. She studied painting and sculpture at the HfBK Dresden.
Currently, she works mainly two-dimensional, where she likes to switch between techniques and formats. Her favorite medium, however, is watercolor because it can only be controlled to a certain extent. Watercolor simply does what it wants, and the trick is to unite the spontaneous with the planned.
The essential themes in Effi Mora’s works are people and their interactions, but also scenic, dreamy, sometimes morbid landscapes that can be understood as inner sanctuaries.
