Susanne Kontny began her artistic training in 2013 at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. She studied art history in Dresden from 2014 to 2017, since 2017 media art and photography at the HGB Hochschule f\u00fcr Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, where she is supervised by Prof. Tina Bara. In her work she deals with foreign material and its reinterpretation in a social as well as historical context, creating categorizations, montages and collages in photographic and filmic form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Works by her were recently shown in exhibitions in Dresden, Gera, Cologne and Szczecin, as well as at the Werkleitzfestival in Halle and the Verst\u00e4rker Kunst-Film-Festival Dresden. She was involved in the exhibition project “1937 – 2017: From Degenerate Art to Distorted Art” at the HGB Gallery in Leipzig in the year 2019. In 2020 she received the study award of the HGB Circle of Friends and the Sparkasse Leipzig.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, Susanne Kontny will be shooting biographical short films on the legacy of GDR industrial culture in K\u00f6nigstein and Oschatz, in which people will describe their very personal experiences.
