Albania
In 2017, 2018, 2023, 2024 and 2025, I travelled to various regions of Albania and remain enthusiastic about this country: its diverse nature, stretching from the mountains to the sea; its open-minded and hospitable people; its simple life away from the cities; and its rapid development in recent years – the latter with all its positive but also questionable aspects.
Even though rental cars are the usual means of transport for most individual tourists, I have avoided this form of travel so far and have largely travelled around the country using the means and options available to the locals, whether by bus, train or hitchhiking. This gives you an even deeper insight into the country and allows you to experience the people up close.
