I’m listening – a year in silence – Artist Daniel Beerstecher spends a year walking silently through Germany, devoting himself entirely to the power of listening. Through this radical performance, he invites people along his path to experience firsthand the transformative effect of silence and deep, attentive listening. The hike becomes his mobile studio, where encounters take place that create genuine connections.

Being heard – Dyads with Daniel Beerstecher

As part of his project “I’m listening – a year in silence” artist Daniel Beerstecher invites visitors to the Museum of Saxon Folk Art (Jägerhof) on two days. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, he offers contemplative dyads – protected spaces of undivided attention where you can talk or remain silent.

What are dyads?

Why talk to someone who is silent? Doesn’t a good conversation require an exchange between both sides?

Since the summer of 2025, Daniel Beerstecher has been wandering silently through Germany, devoting himself to the art of listening. During the dyads, he listens empathetically, without lecturing or interrupting. The encounters usually last 25 minutes and are tailored to the needs of the guests.

We invite you to come by and share what moves you – or to be silent together. An encounter that says more than words.
