Bummeltruppe on tour – Bike tour 2024

The idea came about while we were still at school: after graduating from secondary school, we would hop on our bikes and cycle to Portugal for three months!

After graduating, we planned the trip, packed our belongings and got our touring bikes ready. We set off from Freiburg at the beginning of October 2024. But no one had told us what we would encounter on this trip. Right at the start, we were greeted by freezing cold weather in France. Thinking of warm Portugal, we hadn’t given it enough thought and were poorly prepared with our camping plans and choice of clothing.

But we didn’t let it get us down and, with the motto ‘Humour is when you laugh anyway’ and the cold at our heels, we quickly cycled through France to the coast. Behind us was our cold homeland, we were side by side, and ahead of us was warm Lagos on the coast of Portugal.
