My EVS in Armenia

It was always clear to me that you have to go off the beaten track to really discover something new. If, like me, you want to go abroad for a year after school, Australia or America is really nothing special anymore and work&travel…. phew.

It was always clear to me that you have to go off the beaten track to really discover something new. If, like me, you want to go abroad for a year after school, Australia or America is really nothing special anymore and work&travel…. phew.

“You only meet Germans on the road anyway.”

On the other hand, not many people have heard of the European Voluntary Service – and the framework that goes with it doesn’t make it unattractive.

But in order not to swim in the mainstream, I did my EVS in Armenia. A country that I couldn’t have even come close to showing exactly on a map when I decided in summer 2015 to teach German and English there for a year and to get to know the entire Caucasus region better.

When you then go there for

  • the nature eyes,
  • the culture interest,
  • the people openness,
  • the volunteer work stamina,
  • and the (countless) hikes through the mountains with the right footwear, (which I had forgotten – never mind) nothing stands in the way of a great year with many good memories and existing friendships. 😉

Thank you, Kultur Aktiv, for supporting me in all organisational matters.
