Curator tour – Václav Havel – Photographs by Bohdan Holomíček

We warmly invite you to a curator’s tour of the exhibition “Václav Havel – Photographs by Bohdan Holomíček”. It will take place on 26 September at 7.30 pm at the nEUROPA Gallery. As part of the Neustadt Art Festival, curator Jan Oelker will welcome you and give you an exclusive insight into the works of Bohdan Holomíček and the life and achievements of Václav Havel.

The event is part of the Neustadt Art Festival. This non-commercial art and culture festival is celebrating its 14th edition this year. From 25 to 27 September 2026, there will be exhibitions, concerts, readings, performances and much more – all in one weekend in Dresden’s Neustadt district – organised independently by representatives of all kinds of artistic genres and held together at a colourful bunch of venues.

Václav Havel – Photographs by Bohdan Holomíček

5 October 2026 marks the 90th birthday of Václav Havel. The nEUROPA Gallery, run by Kultur Aktiv e.V., is marking this anniversary with an exhibition and a programme of events to commemorate this pioneer of democracy and human rights in East Central Europe, a staunch European who, as President, also vehemently advocated for German-Czech reconciliation.

Bohdan Holomíček’s photographs are characterised by closeness and a strong sense of intimacy. They reveal far more of Havel’s human greatness than official tributes ever could. The photographer does not see Havel primarily as a dissident, writer or president. Holomíček portrays Václav Havel as a human being.
