CALLIGRAPHY workshop – Design your personal memory book

With professional artistic support, you can delve even deeper into biographical themes and life stories – and record them concretely in a personal memory book.

The focus will be on our memories, experiences and wishes in relation to our neighbourhood. A playful as well as emphatic approach to the topic, as well as curiosity and the joy of experimentation in the design process form the basis for the design of old books, which we want to breathe new life into.

Calligraphy expert Hongfeng Yang from the German-Chinese Centre and Dresden artist Nadine Wölk will give you ideas and accompany you individually in the artistic realisation of your memory books.

UPCYCLING – turn old into new

For the workshop, we need old books with a hardcover that we are not too shy to paint over, cut up, tear apart, sew together or glue on. You are also welcome to bring old documents (that are no longer needed!), photos, newspaper cuttings, fabrics, papers, stamps and the like that can be incorporated into the books.

At the end of the project, the resulting works can be presented in an exhibition and everyone can also take their work home.
