Jan Oelker, born in Dresden in 1960, worked as an engineer until he became a freelance photojournalist in 1991. His main subject is the relationship between man and the environment. Since the mid-1980s, he has travelled to the countries of the former Soviet Union more than 25 times. He is particularly interested in how the transformation of these societies affects people’s everyday lives.
