(My) Italian Picture Tour – The Gargano Peninsula and Eight Days of High-Speed Circumnavigation of Sicily

Goethe spent almost two years in Italy and wrote his “Italian Journey” only 25 years later. So much time is “not” nowadays. So in just under four weeks in 2019 it went with numerous stops in my rolling pension from Lake Garda to Sicily and via Assisi and Modena back again. The focus this time was in the south.

In the merry month of May, which often showed the cool shoulder with snow, rain and gray skies, rarely postcard weather. Still, there was plenty to see, find, do for the camera and the stomach – sweet cherries until you drop.

It is not a classic educational trip, only a few glimpses for the big sights (whose images can be easily viewed on the Internet), but a constant drift through many places, busy, cozy or lost places, looking at the ground, the walls, through openings, over the fence, on the landscape, numerous little things. Human “legacies.”

An everyday casualness that invites this evening to a journey of images across the “spur of the boot” – the Gargano peninsula – and Sicily.
