Open Gallery :: In our gallery Galerie nEUROPA we not only present exhibitions of contemporary photographers with a connection to Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, but the space is also open for open meetings, coffee rounds, games evenings, workshops, seminars, think tanks, and so on.
A space for getting together, creativity and making new connections
Would you like to get creative together, share ideas and meet new people? Then come along to the Threads of Life” Café!
This is where people who enjoy being creative, trying new things and spending time together meet. Sometimes we create textile pieces, sometimes pictures, figures or other small works of art. Depending on interests and the occasion, we sew, felt, paint, write, weave or try out other creative techniques. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a desire to meet new people.
The focus is on the shared experience. Whilst our hands are busy creating, conversations, new ideas and connections grow. The café is an open and welcoming place where people can share their experiences, learn from one another, laugh, tell stories and leave the daily rush behind for a while.
Together, we weave a new pattern from the threads of our lives.
And just as different threads, colours and shades come together in weaving, so too are the people who visit our café important to us – with their different stories, experiences, ideas and skills. Everyone brings their own thread. Some threads remain in the weaving for a long time, whilst others touch it only for a while. But every single thread can contribute something to the shared pattern.
We do not wish to limit ourselves to any particular creative technique. The form is free to evolve and emerge spontaneously from our imagination, our curiosity and our enjoyment of creating together.
Since 2022, the event has been hosted by the Open Gallery at Galerie nEUROPA. Originally launched by Yuliya Firsova as a sewing café, it has evolved into a diverse space for getting together and being creative. The themes and techniques may change, but the shared space remains the same.
Everyone is welcome: women and men, people with and without creative experience, old friends and new faces. Anyone who like can bring their own materials or a current project. Some materials are available on site.
