Sewing Café on Tour! on the 3rd Advent: Sewing last-minute gifts – for young and old

Yuliya Firsova – our favourite Sewing Café host – is moving the needlework studio, including needles, yarn and fabric, to the offline shop on the main street on the 3rd Advent! Come along when it’s time to sew last-minute gifts. Yes, that’s right! It’s quicker than you think: in no time at all, scraps of fabric and a few needle stitches can be turned into your very own personalised placemats and anything else your imagination can come up with.

Participation is free of charge. We provide a few needles, yarns and pieces of fabric. If you like, you can of course bring your own materials! Experience doesn’t matter. Suitable for young and old tailors.

Offline shop on the main street

Until 30 December 2023, the “Offline Shop – Buy or DIY” on the main street is not just a pop-up store where artists exhibit and sell handicrafts and artistic products. Creative professionals will also be offering workshops on various topics on the weekends in November and December. In addition to buying and showing, this place is also intended to be a place to try out and learn.

The organisers of the offline shop are a loose association of artists, project managers and committed individuals. In cooperation with the state capital Dresden, Wir gestalten Dresden, MUAH! and Pieces for Peace.

Then come along to our weekly sewing café in the nEUROPA gallery: You are cordially invited to the weekly sewing café every Wednesday at 6.00 pm! Here you can chat, get creative together and make beautiful things!

Background: Since autumn 2022, Yuliya Firsova, a teacher from Odesa, has been hosting a sewing café at the nEUROPA gallery. Together with other women who have fled Ukraine, they have created a place where they can unwind, talk, sing, share their problems and experience support and warmth.

Open gallery – what is it?

In our gallery Galerie nEUROPA we not only present exhibitions of contemporary photographers with a connection to Eastern and South-Eastern Europe, but the space is also open for open meetings, coffee rounds, games evenings, workshops, seminars, think tanks, and so on.
