Embroidery is not only a textile art, but also a language that speaks of identity, history and culture in different communities. Migration and exchange have contributed to the development of embroidery. The arrival of migrants from different parts of the world has enriched the techniques and styles. Influences from different cultures have meant that embroidery still plays an important role today.

The “AnsprechBar” goes to places where people come together and want to get to know each other. One offer from our AnsprechBar is textile design. We want to bring this ancient craft into the present day. In this workshop, we have the opportunity to work with experienced embroiderers who will share their knowledge and techniques with us. Embroidering together will be used as an instrument of expression. It is not only the hands that work, stories are told and individual threads are woven into a network of community.

We want to present stitches and patterns from different countries. Get to know different colors, flora, fauna and symbols that are representative of each country despite globalization.

The project is funded by the State Ministry for Social Affairs and Social Cohesion. This measure is co-financed with tax funds on the basis of the budget passed by the Saxon state parliament within the framework of the state programme Integrative Maßnahmen.
