Dana Berg

After studying at the Bauhaus University Weimar and the Dresden University of Fine Arts, Dana Berg completed her artistic training in 2015 as a master student with Prof. Martin Honert.

Berg’s works are based on an interest in people’s most private surroundings. The interior materialises the inner life of its inhabitant. At the same time, it is here that man’s desire to locate himself in the world is most clearly expressed. He creates his own, controllable (retreat) space – in the midst of a world that can neither be fully understood nor significantly influenced – out of things that are built around him as a centre.

In her works, Dana Berg searches for the point at which this private order begins to falter, when things develop an unwanted life of their own and do not want to fulfil their purpose, when something ugly and bizarre grows out of the beautiful or homely.

In 2015, she received the Robert Sterl Prize. In recent years, exhibitions have followed, among others, at Zentralwerk, Galerie Gebr. Lehmann, geh8 and Oswaldz temporary Dresden.
