Nuslätta November 2023 – ostZONE: Additional programme to the exhibition “Revolutionary Romances? Global Art Histories in the GDR” at the Albertinum

Get to know and share different experiences of life in the GDR, socialism and art in workshops, contemporary witness talks and city tours - across generations and cultures.
ostZONE - Workshop Mail-Art

Dear cultural activists,

The contract workers, international trainees and students who came here during the GDR era are the second and third generation to live here. Their history and their present are not present. This is where ostZONE (in cooperation with the ethnologist Dr. Verena Böll and Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dres) comes in: as an accompanying programme to the exhibition “Revolutionary Romances? Global Art Histories in the GDR” at the Albertinum, we are offering space for questions and shared remembrance – different life paths in the history of the GDR will be discussed. The  Albertinum will become a place of encounter! Programme starts this week on Saturday!

Programme preview

Get to know and try out political art forms – such as mail art or screen printing – in workshops. Discussions with contemporary witnesses and city tours convey global perspectives, GDR life stories and (hidden) places outside the museum. Enjoy the contemporary witnesses and artists: Marí Emily Bohley and Julia Eberth, Hung Cao The and Vuong Tuan Hai, Moussa Mbarek and Janina Kracht, Bela Álvarez and Montserrat Butter and many more.

You can find the entire programme with all events until June 2024 here!
